There’s nothing quite like a good book recommendation is there? I love it when
someone tells me about an author or a book series that I haven’t heard about yet. I get
excited to experience a new style of storytelling! It’s a practice that has gone on for
years.
In hopes of keeping the tradition alive, I’m going to share a book
recommendation once a month, but I’m asking for something in return… A
recommendation of a novel from one of you! Feel free to add it to the comments or to
shoot us an email at tgbrownbooks@tgbrownbooks.com
Most of you know that I am a veracious reader. The books I’m reading right now
include, “The Goodbye Man” by Jeffery Deaver, “Night Prey” by John Sandford, and the
third one I’m about to start is a western called, “Edge: The Loner” by George G. Gilman.
Have any of you read these books? The first two are crime thriller type stories
that hook you from the start. The western I heard about from some history buffs, so I
figured I’d give it a shot. Let me know what you thought of the books I’m reading!
My book recommendation for the month is…
Drum roll please…. (Imagine drums thumping loudly)
The Thicket by Joe R. Lansdale.
This book is a coming-of-age tale (with a lot of twists and some hilarious
moments) that is set during the final days of the wild west. It’s one of my favorite books
of all time. Memorable characters, exciting story, and great dialogue.
Have you read The Thicket? If you have, let me know what you thought of it.
What’s everyone’s reading list look like? I’m eager to hear what authors you’re reading!
Have a great day everyone!

Among several series that I'm working through is the Prey series by John Sandford. I'm reading them in order and just finished Sandford's fourth - Silent Prey. Enjoying them so far...got like 30 left to go in the series. Since I enjoy the crime thriller type books, a new-to-me series that was recommended to me by a octogenarian friend of my wife's is the In Death series written by Nora Roberts under the name JD Robb. I'm halfway through the second book and scratching my head wondering how an author can be so prolific to have another 60 books published from 1995 to 2025 in the same series. It amazes me that folks (like yourself) have such imagination and talent…
